Kingston Springs Halloween Party 1974

Dan’s circle of friends arrived from various points across the country to celebrate Halloween at his farm house outside Kingston Springs Tennessee. Everyone dropped psychedelics. Dan regaled stoned guests with hours of mime until dawn. Sometime much later Dan writes a song that reminds me of that evening.

Seldom seen
A scarecrow’s dream
I hang in the hopes of replacement
Castles tall
I built them all
But I dream that I’m trapped in
the basement.
And if you ever hear me calling out
And if you’ve been by paupers crowned
Between the worlds of men and
make-believe
I can be found.
Plans I’ve made
A masquerade
Fading in fear of the coming day
Heroes’ tales
Like nightingales
Wrestle the wind as they run away.
And if you ever hear them calling out
And if you’ve been by paupers crowned
Between the worlds of men and make-
believe
I can be found.
Garden gate
An empty plate
Waiting for someone to come and fill
Scarecrow’s dreams
Like frozen streams
Thirst for the fall
But they’re running still.
And if you ever hear me calling out
And if you’ve been by paupers crowned
Between the worlds of men and
make-believe
I can be found.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Such strange effects in that picture! Were there ghosts around, or were the blurry heads symptomatic of the states of their minds? (Although, I suppose the dog didn’t ingest anything….I hope!) Must have been ghosts. Ghosts come back to visit OUR basement.

Never enough pictures. Fossils of life. So many minutes, hours, days that can’t be exhumed anymore from the strata of time. So. Thank you for your faithful digging. We very much appreciate your findings, as ever.

Looked at the basement video, seeing you do the “great balls of fire” reminded me of Jason D. Williams style of playing. I used do some design work for the NAA and knew his wife Jen(nifer) James when she worked at the NAA. Interesting story how she met him – he was the entertainment for a conference they had in New Orleans. I know this has nothing to do with the thread. Just thinking you and she had some similar tastes in music (Melissa Manchester) Anyway, people, places, connections, all find there own way down the stream. Ghosts of people past and present . . .
    Ever on
